I am currently working on a series of six books about Merida, a magic campervan. The stories are adventures, set in different countries with characters of different nationalities and backgrounds. The families are, generally, non-traditional and, being a mum myself, address various parenting problems – from a child’s point of view of course! Merida has very strong opinions as to why children (and their parents) behave ‘badly’. Some of these ideas stem from the blog I wrote about a different kind of journey and, of course, reading every book about bringing up children, various ADHD sites and Hand-in-Hand Parenting. But, most of all, they are adventure travel stories.
As one of Leo’s friend’s from school, age 11, wrote to me: ‘Hi Lisa, it’s Uma, I have just finished reading your book! I loved it! It’s SOOOO existing! Congratulations! My favourite characters are Merida and Ely. My favourite bits are when the campervan jumps into the sea and the bit when they look for Ely. But really I love it all!’
